In total we probably spent about 90 minutes going from Monterey to Carmel. We enjoyed stopping a few times but didn't stop at any one area for a long time. The 17 mile drive through the beautiful Pebble Beach is one of the best stops along the Pacific Coast Highway, with it’s breathtaking views of the coastline. We had stopped in at the Monterey visitors center which had a nice map that showed the best way to access the gates. My wife and I took this drive on a Saturday afternoon in February.
